Preparation for vacations

Only few days left to go home for vacation and things are all in a mess. Lot of pressure is there for packing and our daughter is really trying hard to distract us from packing. The lesson I have learnt is that start planning for contingency at least a month in advance and try to sort out all the pending issues and problems. This will really help in a long way to plan vacation with a kid.

The blog’s introspection

Warning: This blog post is total rambling, please read at your own risk.

Of late, I have been just too busy with too many mundane things and have not posted for months altogether before the last two posts. When I opened this blog in the browser yesterday to check to check my photo entry, it struck in my mind what am I contributing via this blog. Is it any intellectual thoughts or any new creative techniques or any art work or any new news from IT world or a new food recipe or a new technique to do some experiment at home or a new perspective to existing problem or anything which will be credited and I found that I don’t plan to do anything like this. I just wanted to write something because so many other people write. This thought caused a revelation and it come to my mind that every experience, good or bad, which I get in life is always a lesson and I should always remember the crux. So, I write this blog now only for myself. It doesn’t mean that you are unwanted. In fact, you are most welcome to share your thoughts on the same. There are so many things happening in life right now, 3 years back I got married, last year we had a lovely daughter, priorities have changed from me to my daughter, the job is more demanding, my daughter wants attention all the time (not that I am complaining), purchased a car recently and learned to drive it. I am now in my early thirties and slowly but surely the aging has started. Things which may look small but will make a large impact when combined with other things happening with me. Each of these teach something and I need to remember all these goods and bads for my sake. So, I will write.

The other thought which come to me why write here on a new blog, when I had a blog on –, well I have thought about it, I feel that what I express or re-express (as in retweet) should be my intellectual property. As per T&C whatever is posted on blogger website become property of Google. So, I had to move my blog somewhere. After some thought, I decided it is best to host using Open Source Blogging Software WordPress on some free hosting. So I ended up with this blog…

Anyway coming back to the point “Blogs Introspection” – I feel that the blog may be yet another very ordinary member in the huge jungle of blog but this blog is very special to me and I promise myself to add some worthy content to it so which will make this blog worth itself.

Cleaning your computer…

Well, we have multitude of software and correspondingly we use variety of maintenance software such as defragmenter, junk file cleaner, registry cleaner and so on  to ensure that the computer software is running fine. We often tend to forget the essential piece of hardware makes the software is the CPU and more often we forget to tend and take care of the CPU. Well, not only CPU but other components are also left unattended. Now, it is essential that one should take proper care of the CPU and keep it spick and spank. So lets see, how it can be done in easy way.

The computer hardware at minimum will have a monitor, a keyboard, a CPU (motherboard + processor + RAM + Hard disk). The CPU may also contains few fans, Optical Drive, other boards like graphic card and sound card and so on. The CPU is brain behind the working of the computer. If one observes, the number of component packed together inside a box (Cabinet) is a huge source of heat generation. This heat has to be dissipated to obtain optimum performance. And over time, dust, dirt, cobweb and what not gets accumulated inside the cabinet, over the moving fans and most of the opening, choking the airflow and increased load on the motors of the moving components like fans.

Cleaning a CPU is very easy. First one need switch off the computer and unplug all the cables running into the rear of CPU. Next, remove the screws at the back panel holding the side panel of the cabinet. Care has to be taken while sliding the side panel as sometimes a fan or two may be connected to provide additional air into the cabinet.

Best way to start cleaning is by removing all the cobwebs and dirt possibly by some soft cloths. Care is to be taken not to use any liquid or solvent. Next using a soft wide brush or vacuum cleaner remove all the the dirt and grime settled in fan. Possibly blow some air using air can or air pump into the various nook and corner of your computer. Care should be taken to blow air lightly over the fan otherwise it may damage the fan. If possible remove the RAM sticks and graphic card and clean them and their slot properly. After cleaning inside the CPU, clean the outside body using some solvent & wipe it dry.

Monitor/ Display Unit can also be cleaned by wiping using a  solvent soaked soft cloth, Always use a mild solvent and check that the solvent is not affecting the plastic part of the monitor. The keyboard can be cleaned by blowing compressed air into the gaps of keys.

Cleaning helps in keeping the computer running fine and avoids any overheating due to poor cooling. So happy cleaning.
